英国帝国理工学院教授Alfried P. Vogler来访

2018年1月19日至20日，应卜文俊教授邀请，英国帝国理工学院Alfried P. Vogler教授来到南开大学生命科学学院昆虫学研究所进行访问，并为全体师生作题为“Characterising insect biodiversity with large-scale DNA sequencing”的学术报告。

Alfried P. Vogler教授在报告中介绍了线粒体基因组及DNA条形码相关的方法论及主要技术。

并结合其团队最新的工作为例介绍了具体的应用。

报告后，昆虫学研究所师生针对metabarcoding研究的相关问题与Alfried P. Vogler教授进行了深入的讨论。

Alfried P. Vogler教授，博士生导师。现任英国帝国理工学院分子系统学领域教授，同时供职于英国自然历史博物馆。 他是鞘翅目分子系统发育研究领域的领军人，主要研究领域包括鞘翅目昆虫的分子系统学、分子进化及甲虫多样性等研究，基部分子序列和系统分析方法来探究甲虫多样性大尺度的科学问题，涉及到每个分类阶元，从种群到目间关系的研究。另外，他还致力于利用DNA来鉴定物种的研究，特别是对于热带地区一些未知种。

Professor Alfried P. Vogler has a joint position at the Natural History Museum and at Imperial College, London. He is one of the most important leaders of molecular phylogenetic research of Coleroptera and other fields. His main interest is in the phylogeny and evolution of Coleoptera (beetles), arguably the largest radiation of animal species on Earth. He uses DNA sequences and phylogenetic analysis to study a wide range of questions to explain the great diversity of beetles, at all hierarchical levels, from populations to basal relationships of the order. In addition, he has developed DNA-based approaches as short-cut for taxonomy, in particular in poorly known tropical groups. He has very comprehensive experiences collaborating with international colleagues.
